2-Day Marrakech to Merzouga Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Merzouga
Your Marrakech desert tour begins with a morning departure from your accommodation in Marrakech.
Leaving the city behind, you will travel towards the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Along the way, there will be opportunities to stop and enjoy the changing scenery.
As the landscape gradually transforms, you will continue towards southern Morocco, with a stop for lunch along the route.
Your destination for the day is Merzouga, located at the edge of the Sahara.
In the afternoon, you will begin your camel experience across the Erg Chebbi dunes. As the sun begins to descend, you will have time to stop on the dunes and enjoy the changing colors of the Sahara.
After the sunset, continue towards your desert camp.
Once at the camp, settle into your private tent and enjoy dinner. The evening is a chance to relax around the campfire, listen to traditional music and look up at the stars.
Overnight: Desert camp in Merzouga
Day 2: Merzouga → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech
Wake up early if you would like to experience the peaceful Sahara sunrise from the dunes.
After breakfast, leave the desert camp by 4×4 and return towards Merzouga before beginning the journey back to Marrakech.
The road takes you through some of the varied landscapes of southern Morocco, with time for stops and a lunch break along the way.
One of the main stops is the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a historic fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its distinctive architecture and desert surroundings have also made it a popular filming location.
Take some time to explore the area and appreciate its history before continuing towards Marrakech.
You will arrive in Marrakech later in the afternoon, where your 2-day Sahara journey from Marrakech comes to an end.
